Welcome to Atlanta

This past weekend we went to Atlanta to see my niece Clarissa get baptized. We rode down with my parents which was fun. Jackson was an amazing traveler and this is by far the best he has done on a trip, and he usually does pretty good. He did so great this time and hardly cried at all the whole weekend! Here are some pictures of our trip:

We had to wait a long time to check in at the first hotel. Luckily Jackson stayed asleep because it was past his bedtime. Jon put him by the water fountain to drown out the noise. This hotel was a little understaffed and out of soap. But much cheaper than the neighboring hotels.

Jon hacked my phone. He has never looked better.

We met up with Sandra and the kids in the mountains and went to a petting zoo/apple orchard

Brenna was so sweet and good with Jackson

Xander and Brenna rode back with us and got to stay one night with us before heading up to Grandma's house. Xander was crazy in this shopping cart car.

9 Months

Jackson has now entered the "he's into everything stage." Jackson is really starting to crawl faster and faster and it has become more of a crawl and less of a scoot now. (we called it his peg-leg scoot before) Jackson now can leave the room he is in and come find us. He loves opening the cabinets and opening and closing the bedroom doors. Whenever I open the fridge, he crawls as fast as he can to get the salad dressing before I close the fridge. He goes for the Lime Vinaigrette every time. Jackson loves standing in the living room window and hitting the glass and watching the cars drive by. He also loves watching daddy leave and come home each day. Jackson waves all of the time now. He knows to wave when we say hi and bye bye. He loves loves loves Callie. Tonight I asked if he wanted to go walk Callie and his eyes and mouth opened so big in excitement and he crawled as fast as he could towards me. He sat in the car and just petted her. He loves her so much. He also loves looking at books and drags them across the room with him. He also loves eating paper so he is only allowed to have the sturdy books for now.

And in breaking news, Jackson can clap! Jon has practiced this with him but Jackson hasn't ever shown interest. I would clap and say yay every now and then and the other day I clapped and said yay in a really high voice and Jackson started clapping. It was so adorable. We love watching things click for him.

Jackson's sleep is about the same. Naps are short and not scheduled. I'm trying but he is just all over the place. Night time sleep is pretty good, Some nights Jackson only wakes up once or twice. He usually is down for the night by 6:30 or 7:00 and is ready to go at 5 or at the latest 5:45 which is when Jon wakes up. Jackson seems to know this and has to be up right along with Jon. Jackson is eating basically everything but baby food. He grabs food by the fistful and ignores the pincer grasp thing. He eats cheerios and bananas everyday for breakfast, He loves peas and avocado and all other veggies. He loves bread, puffs, black beans, cheese, noodles, and basically everything else we have tried. He pretty much never eats baby food anymore except when we are out and about he sometimes does. Jackson still nurses pretty often, probably 6 times a day. I will miss nursing but I am sort of excited to wean him in a few months. He will barely take a sippy cup and just chews on it. So weaning should be eventful.

My favorite thing is that Jackson has started to cuddle up on me and lay his head on my shoulder when he is tired. He has even let me sit and rock him. Normally he only does this with Jon so I am loving it. He still won't fall asleep in my arms but loves to fall asleep after nursing and lay by me in bed.

Jackson is so sweet and so happy but is often tired so that makes him very mellow at times. He is the best baby and we love him so much!

he frequently leans to the side while he eats, it is always his left side.

he finally will let us put a blanket on him

watching out the front window

this picture and the next few pictures are his "official" 9 month pictures- it is getting more and more difficult to take these. He just kept crawling towards the camera.

This shirt was Jon's! It says Nature Lover on it and has a kid with a camping backpack. So fitting. I really want to find a picture of Jon in this shirt but I am not sure if there is one.

A friend gave us this little Columbia Jacket for J.

He kept wanting to feed himself baby food so finally I handed him the bowl. I have a video of him with it and it is hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing.

J loves bath time.

there is that salad dressing

see, he is into everything

A few weeks ago I took Jackson to the after hours doctor to get his skin checked out. He had giant swollen looking bites on his arms, legs, and face. We were worried about it and didn't want it to get worse. The doctor was unsure of what it was but she said it was fine and that we could give him Benedryl and Hydrocortizone Cream. She thought it may have been an allergic reaction to mosquito bites. We opted not to give him any medicine since it didn't seem to bother him and it cleared up in about 2 days. The  next two pictures are from that.

it looked worse than this in real life and his wrist was swollen

he really wants to shower too!

This day, Jackson went to bed at 4:30 pm! He woke up to nurse an hour later and then crashed again, I finally laid him back down and he slept until 5am with one or two quick wake ups to nurse. I couldn't believe he went to bed so early.

he is obviously not allowed to play here

I love his Yoga poses
